How to properly apply a moisturizing cream, which product is suitable for different skin types, when it is better to use it - read on.
1. Incorrect selection of cream according to skin type
This is one of the most obvious reasons that reduces the effectiveness of your care product. Each skin type has individual needs and it is better to consult a cosmetologist or other specialist who will help you choose the appropriate cosmetics.
However, there are universal tips on which moisturizer to choose:
- for normal skin - moisturizing creams;
- for dry - nourishing and moisturizing;
- for oily skin - moisturizing creams.
For external skin hydration, you should pay attention to the following elements in its composition:
- hydrophilic components: hyaluronic acid and other polysaccharides, amino acids, minerals, algae extracts, chitosan.
- components that create a protective layer to support the epidermal barrier: squalane, natural waxes, natural oils.
Another mistake when moisturizing the skin is using the same cream in the morning and evening routine. Therefore, it is worth knowing that creams with a light consistency are usually recommended for morning care. At the same time, a night cream is needed for nutrition, because not only the body but also the skin recovers during sleep. That is why the products used at night are "heavier" and rich in useful components.
People with normal skin type should use a nourishing cream before going to bed. For those with dry skin type, a nourishing and moisturizing one is suitable, and for owners of oily skin, it is recommended to use a sebum-regulating cream.
But not everyone needs a night cream. Skin condition can affect it.
4. Applying the cream to dry skin
Yes, the fact that the cream provides a moisturizing function is not the same as applying it to completely dry skin. Cosmetologists advise to do this when the skin is still wet, because it absorbs moisture best and keeps it for a longer time. Therefore, a good solution would be to apply a moisturizing cream immediately after bathing or washing.
You can also improve the effect by exfoliating the skin before application, so you will get rid of an extra layer of dead particles that prevent better absorption of the product.
5. A too thick layer of the product
It can often seem to us that the more cream we apply, the better it will work. But it is not so. The skin needs as much cream as it can absorb. If the cream is too much, the skin will not be able to breathe. So the tool stops working, it has no effectiveness. Apply the cream only in a thin layer, then the results will please you much more.
